Overview

Haymisha Catering is a catering service that needed a simple yet functional website to showcase their menu and enable clients to independently create and send in their event orders.

The Challenge

The goal was to allow users to view the various menus, select specific dishes, calculate order cost automatically, and send it directly to the admin via email – all without requiring a phone call.

UX research

As part of the research phase, I conducted an in-depth competitive analysis of catering websites, focusing on UI structure, brand messaging, information hierarchy, and overall user experience.

My goal was to understand the reasoning behind every pixel – what messages are being conveyed, what actions users are encouraged to take, and how the layout supports intuitive navigation.

I approached the process from a user's perspective:
What am I looking for?
What questions come to mind?
How would I expect to browse, explore, and place an order?

Based on these insights, I:
✔ Built a clear content hierarchy
✔ Defined key conversion points
✔ Designed a simple, intuitive interface — accessible even to less tech-savvy users

These insights were fully implemented in the new Hcatering website, tailored to the business’s unique tone and its target audience within the Haredi community.

User flow

Users navigate through one of the menus → select desired dishes → view live cost calculation → complete the form with event details → receive confirmation.

wireframes

Designed a clean step-by-step order process to reduce user hesitation and improve clarity.

UI design & Web design in WordPress

The UI design of the Hcatering website was guided by clarity, warmth, and functionality—tailored specifically to a traditional audience looking for a seamless digital experience. I created a clean and inviting visual language that balances elegance with simplicity, using warm tones, clear typography, and intuitive layouts to convey trust, quality, and accessibility.

Each section was designed to guide the user smoothly through the journey—from exploring the menu to placing an order—while keeping the interface visually pleasant, mobile-friendly, and easy to navigate. The design supports both action-driven behavior (quick ordering) and leisurely browsing (menu download), meeting users where they are in their decision-making process.

Website development by code

A dynamic internal page that allows users to customize their event menu directly on the site. Users simply check the desired dishes, and the system automatically calculates the total price, including quantity-based adjustments according to the selected number of guests.

At the end of the process, a summary email is automatically sent to the site administrator, including the full order details, final pricing, and the user’s contact information for seamless follow-up.

“Chaya doesn’t just design websites – she designs experiences. Every detail was crafted with the user in mind, resulting in a site that looks great and feels intuitive and easy to use.”
